The Corn Projecthttp://adonaicorn.blogspot.com
Large areas of Guatemala have suffered the worst drought in 30 years, and survival has gone from difficult to desperate for many families in the Central Highland area of our ministry. The current food crisis not only affects those whose crops have failed, but also is pushing up food costs for all because of the shortage of corn and beans.

In some villages all of the corn plants died before they could make ears. In others, the yield was much smaller than normal. Since the villagers have just finished harvesting, that small supply will soon run out. Many families are eating tortillas only once or twice a day now to stretch the their corn supply and there is no money to buy other food. The need will continue until the next corn crop is harvested next fall, many months away.

NBRI has joined hands with Adonai International Ministries and the Duane Ficker family in Canilla, Guatemala in “The Corn project” to provide food to families in those areas which have been hardest hit by the drought. This aid includes "viveras" (bags of beans, rice, oatmeal, sugar, soap) that are distributed to the needy in the medical clinics held out in rural clinics and through local churches. Please help us with this outreach.
